At the age of 22, and his story is founded in the collision and fragmentation of cultures, in the disturbance, sublimation and reallocation of a shifted sexuality, and in the ironic armament he musters to wage surrogate war with the titanic period icons of Western visual culture – classical Greek sculpture, Michelangelo, Auguste Rodin. Books I found IM Jeremy Silman's books ('How To Reassess Your Chess' and 'Amateur's Mind') very helpful in improving. Fred Reinfeld's '1001 Winning Chess Sacrifices and Combinations' is a book comprised of nothing but a whole bunch of really great tactics puzzles, arranged by different themes.

Going through every puzzle in that book will turn you into a player whose tactical ability should be in the 2000 rating range -- however, that won't mean you are a 2000-strength player, since then you will still have to work on catching up your openings, endgame understanding, and positional chess knowledge to match your tactical ability. For the more advanced player, I highly recommend Garry Kasparov's 'My Great Predecessors', volumes 1-5. Those books have taught me a great deal. Further on the subject of books I have a large library of chess e-books in.pdf and.djvu formats, both of which you can read on the go on a tablet or a kindle (or any other mobile e-book reader). If anyone would like any of these, feel free to private message me your email and I will be happy to share them.
