Landscape orientation is great, but only simple games are your option for portrait. Review the pros here folks.

Dont look stupid killing time between classes. Thumb/fingers less intrusive on the 'action' area. More comfortable to hold. Easy real life multitasking with your free arm.

Needs 5+fps better to be perfect though. LG G2 and GS4. Voice-over trolls: would you be happier if this was a 6gb download? That's what it would take. Then trolls would complain that the game takes up too much space. Haters will hate. Landscape orientation is great, but only simple games are your option for portrait.

Voice-over trolls: would you be happier if this was a 6gb download? That's what it would take. Then trolls would complain that the game takes up too much space. After reading reviews I had a couple of major concerns before forking out for this: Firstly, the lack of landscape mode. I generally always prefer to use it in games where possible.

However, having played this portrait is a much more sensible option. When playing on smaller screens, it's better for the characters to use as much screen real estate as possible, rather than the general surroundings. You can easily look around thanks to the handy camera controls at the bottom. Many phone ports omit camera controls as two sticks on the screen is too much. This handy scroll bar solves that and lets you look up, down and side to side easily, which is so important. Secondly, the lack of voices. This is a big deal in general.

And I haven't played the original, so I can't say how much of a loss this is. However, I can say that the game has so much character, even without voices, within 5 minutes of playing the personalities of everyone had come through. So, now those two issues have been addressed, onto the good stuff! It's great to get back to some classic, exploration based RPG action with turn based battles and this is one of the finest examples of the genre.

A genre which lends itself superbly to touch screens. This game integrates really well, with quickly accessible menus and neat battle controls. The story is interesting, the music first rate and the graphics are beautiful and scrub up really well on HD devices. In particular, if you have a HDR, high contrast display the colours, characters and objects are gorgeous. Highly recommended! ***Pros: It's dragon quest 8 for your android phone!

I loved this game for the PS2, and it's here for Android on the same day as the iOS! For the most part, it works and you can actually play it. ***Cons: The colors are drowned out, and don't look nearly as vibrant as they did on the PS2. The controls are great for the phone, and I certainly appreciate that they optimized it.

However, if I have to make sharp turns, I have to wait for the camera to pan around. Framerate is very low.

It feels like it's running at 10fps on my Nexus 5. If I switch off the screen, or go to the home screen, the game essentially crashes and I can't get back into it 50% of the time. I'm not sure if this is a Nexus 5 issue, because the screenshots look vibrant and very highly detailed.

This is the Japanese version of DQ8- meaning no voice acting and orchestrated tracks. It is still as good as I remember if only a little lag on my Moto G. Able to take this on the go and save anywhere on the overworld is nice. The save state if you get calls is a really great feature.and with cloud saves! Having an instant Alchemy Pot helps, too! Update: Now it runs better with less lag. One word: awesome!

Also, again, since it is BASED ON THE JAPANESE version there is no ORCHESTRATED SOUNDTRACK and VOICE ACTING! This is an update to my original post. Loved the game but it just updated and deleted all of my data. I had just made it to the black citidale and now I must start all over. I don't think so. Sucks because I've been playing this game for months. Would have got 5 stars if voice overs worked.

The no screen rotation bothered me at first but I got used to it rather quickly but the lack of voiceover speech really takes away from an other wise great game. Having to read everything makes it difficult to really get into the story and the way the characters talk make it difficult to read. Keep the ports coming though just find a way to get speech integrated. The game will run on my RCA tablet, My Huawei Phone, but not on my Nextbook Ares 8a.

The game is great, don't get me wrong, but Google Play shows that it is compatible with ALL of my devices. So why can't I get past the load screen with the hourglass in the lower right corner. The game is worth the money, especially if you're a fan of the series. I'm just warning people who want it and they have a Nextbook Ares 8, get a different tablet until the DEVELOPER @SQUARE ENIX fixes this or then again, not. Give us the voice overs!! Paid in full $59.99 (maybe more), back when this was first released on PS2.

Worked at Funcoland if anyone remembers that place; bought it on the day of its release. That aside, it's an excellent JRPG with old-school game mechanics that made the Dragon Warrior (Quest) the series it is today. This polished gem, while updated for the mobile platform, includes everything the original PS2 version had, minus the voice overs. Being the completionist I am, I'm only half way through, at almost 70 hours of game play!

Between the Alchemy Pot and Monster Arena, there's plenty to keep you busy, all the while, leveling your party, giving you an advantage for the main story. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ PLEASE SQUARE-ENIX, GIVE THE FANS WHAT THEY WANT! THE VOICE ACTING/OVERS PLEASE!! DEVELOPMENT ISN'T FINISHED YET! *cough* Maybe a landscape-orientated Guide too.expand into an updated game with controller support.you already have cloud support.that alone, roped in the life long fans such as my self, but we want/need everything that made the original what it was.

⭐⭐⭐⭐If you love this game as much as I do, you might consider this: I went as far as to download and organize game maps (images), pictures, FAQs, strategy guides, walkthroughs. American Corrections 9th Edition Powerpoint Viewer here. Renamed and organized accordingly.

All with Google Drive, create a shortcut to the drive folder on my desktop, so I can instantly pick up and continue where I left off.an added, permanent, plus to accompany the game. (there's other stuff you can do with BLUESTACKS). In summary, take advantage of your devices 'cloud' saving apps and create your own guides that can sync on all of your devices.just like the game! Hit me up, if you want to know how to edit or share games saves.

I never played this game before and now I get to do so on the 3DS AND my smartphone, yes the game doesn't have voice acting but it's better that way otherwise it will take more space to download,it takes 1.51GB to download nothing more nothing less, you can switch the controls by clicking on the 'double arrow' box,if you want to look in 'First Person View' then touch and hold your finger on the center of the screen until it does, also remember to DEPOSIT YOUR MONEY IN THE BANK before you go into a dungeon otherwise whatever money you won will be taken by half, cloud save works fine now on my end.
